MAMALOU

My grandmother has been in the hospital since Tuesday. She was in congestive heart failure. She is much better now. They pulled about 15 pounds of fluid off of her the first night. Today she is sitting up talking and even got a bath. She feels much better.

I snuck a few photo’s of her and wanted to share. This is really more for me to have the memory some where to look back on… But hey someone else might enjoy this post too.

Stinky Crackers

As most of you know I am on a low carb diet and I am always looking for a new recipe to try. Below is a recipe from a friend and how it affected their house. lol. I thought it was hilarious…. I am going to have to try me some stinky crackers.

Kids say cheese ruined our house!

During the low-carb-o-palloooza, Bruce (GBTINYBM) introduced me to parmesan cheese crisps. Even there at the hotel I knew that these things were dangerous. When Bruce cracked the tupperware that they were stored in, the aroma made my nose run and hide behind my ear. They smell like really old feet marinating in vinegar. But they taste so good!! And they really satisfy that craving to have something crunchy - like a cracker.
Basic instructions: Put on respirator, take some shredded parmesan, put it on a plate, nuke it for 30 seconds, flip it, nuke for 30 seconds more and then let it cool.
Well, tonight I decided to make some here on the home front. Just cracking the seal on the cheese wedge let me know that I was dealing with some potent stuff. The dog kept scratching at the door trying to get out of the house.
So it turns out that the best way to amplify the smell of parmesan cheese is to put it in the microwave. By the time I was done making 2 of these crisps, my eyes were watering and the microwave display screen read "TILT".
My wife and I had planned to watch TV, but she had given blood tonight - and the smell was not going well with her light headedness - so she went up to bed.
I bribed my oldest 2 daughters to come and watch Ghostbusters with me (they hadn't seen it before). When they got downstairs they said that I had ruined the house. They spent the whole movie with their hoodies stretched up over their noses.
Lesson learned: When I took a bite of one of those crisps before coming up to bed - I knew that as much as it stunk out my family in the making - it was worth every bit of it! Man those things are good!

Beauty Pageant

My 84 year old Grandmother is now in a nursing home. But let me tell you one thing that has not slowed her down one bit. If anything she is more active now than she was when she was living at home. She has friends in her home. They play games. She has activities. I went to see her one day and she whizzed right past me and was off to therapy. She was walking with her walker and looked almost  like a blur as she zipped past me lol. She didn’t have time for me hahaha I love it.

Anywho…. At the nursing home (my mom is a nurse there) they had a pageant. She decided to participate. She asked my son, Thomas to escort her since he was in ROTC. He was happy to oblige. Firt we had to stop and pick up a few items for Mamma Lou as we call her.

IMG_0441 The above picture is of some Roases Thomas presented to her. She loved them. IF you look carefully there is a picture of my grandma and my grandfather who is now gone to heaven. This was I think right before or right after they got married. One day i will have to share their love story.. IT is truly special and really amazing.

Ok so she got all dolled up and so did Thomas.

IMG_0439

IMG_0438

IMG_0440

The little boy in the last picture is one of her Great grandchildren. Thomas is agreat grandchild too. She also has one GREAT GREAT GRANDCHILD.. She has a bunch of grand, great and one great great lol. She has 5 kids so you can imagine the offspring and we are all still alive n well. A healthy bunch of off spring if i might add.

Anyways, we went to the banquet hall.

IMG_0442

The lady in the red jacket is my mom she was working lol.

IMG_0436

She had to get a picture with Thomas…

IMG_0445

IMG_0443

IMG_0444 The tables where decorated all valentiny.. As you can see in one of the above pictures. MARY LOU WARREN is my grandmas name :)

IMG_0446

So when it was her turn to go up front to be questioned thomas walked her up there and then the MC asked her a few questions about her first love. My grandfather and how they met. It truly was amazing to hear.

She also told how she ran a grocery store in her front yard out in the country of Lismore Louisiana. The store still stands but is not a store any more. On a side note my grandfather also built her a better homes and garden house as I call it:) debt free one section at a time with money he saved up while in service for our country. OK i am rambling… lol

Back to the pageant.

IMG_0452

Momma lou got first place. Not queen but first runner up :) We love herIMG_0456 she had fun and it was just a wonderful time for her.

TWEEDLE DEE DUMB AND TWEEDLE DUMBER

IMG_0428 I love my kids.

These are the younger two. Makayla is 11  and Jacob is ten. They have on their daddies ear plug things. These two when given the chance are very very mischievous.  They got the bright idea to stick a Wire coat hanger in a light socket in my bathroom above my vanity while it was on. First let me say they are alive and fine. Jacob dared Makayla to do it and she did. She climbed up on my vanity and got a wire hanger and untwisted it and Jacob held on to her (he had on rubber boots) i think the rubber boots saved them. That and God. Jacob said all he saw was flames shoot out and the next thing I know I have no lights at all in my bathroom. My outlets don't work either. When i press in on the outlet the lights flash on so Wayne told me to flip the switch to the bathroom till he got home ( he made a special trip) to repair the bathroom. then he said if you smell smoke grab the kids and the dog and get out.  He is now home repairing the bathroom and my two younger kids are banished to their rooms to think about what they did and how much money they cost us. Wayne had to drive all the way home from Shreveport. I told Makayla that if some one dared her to jump of a bridge would she ? lol.. My kids are gonna be the death of me lol. But I love em

On another note a friendly blogger sent me this… Thanks MO IMG_0431
