Most of us desire a closer walk with God. But we find ourselves every year saying we are gonna do it this year. I find my self saying this every year. Well, Guess what? this is the year lol. I am on a quest to read my Bible all the way through. I, at the age of 39, have never done that. I read somewhere…. not sure where that if you read 12 and a half minutes a day in the Bible that by the end of the year you will have read the whole bible through. Now who doesn't have 12 and a half minutes? Seriously we day dream t hat much a day…. I know this might sound gross but .. Try putting a bible in the bathroom… We all spend that much time in the bathroom.. Why not spend it reading the bible..
I challenge anyone who reads my blog to try it along with me and let me know how it goes.
My church is having a 21 day Daniels fast. If you don't know what this is do a search on the internet called Daniels fast. We are all kind a picking how much we want to do in the fast. There is no pressure. Some will be following it to a tee while others will find their own moderation of it. This fast starts Jan. 9th. I plan on doing a version of it. I really already am on the diet I am on. But I will also be fast for 21 days from FACEBOOK. That is a huge sacrifice for me. IF any of you truly know me you know how much that is for me to give up. I mean how will I keep up with everyone lol?
We have also been asked to read the book of proverbs as a family together this month. We will definitely be doing this. My kids will be doing a small fast themselves. Giving up certain things…..
Today I had a Sunday school class to teach. I opened my bible and read this chapter out of the book of Isaiah… Isaiah chapter 58… Read it. I don't know why my bible popped open to this chapter except it was the Lord…..
So starting next Sunday I will not be on facebook for 3 weeks but I will be blogging about my experience of this fast and how I am coping with no facebook…. IF you want to keep up with it I suggest you mark this site to visit.
God, You are going to be so proud of me.
